Street Forum on
“Constitutional Review: Where Do We Go After Policy Address?”

Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa announced in his Policy Address that he would set up a task force to "seriously examine ... those (issues) concerning the understanding of the relevant provisions of the Basic Law, and to consult relevant authorities of the CPG".  It seems that Hong Kong's constitutional review will be dictated by the Central Government, rather than a "people-based" process.  Where do we go from here?  What can the public do?  How can we participate?

The Monitor will organize a street forum this Sunday on constitutional review, so the message could be delivered to the community as well.  Details of the forum are as follow:

Date: Sunday, 18 January 2004
Time: 2:30pm to 5:00pm
Venue: Mongkok Pedestrianization (Sai Yeung Choi Street South near Shantung Street)

Speakers
Father Louis Ha (HK Democratic Development Network)
Mr. Lee Wing-tat (Democratic Party)
Mr. To Yiu-ming (Asst. Prof., Dept. of Journalism, HKBU)
Ms. Rose Wu (Civil Human Rights Front)
