Street Forum on
“Political Development and Basic Law”

Before the Chinese New Year, two Chinese legal scholars had visited Hong Kong and given their views on how Basic Law outlined Hong Kong’s political development.  However, are they the only Basic Law experts?  Are there any other legal opinions on the same issue?

The Monitor believes that constitutional development should be discussed from different angles and with different sectors of the society.  Hence, the Monitor is organizing a street forum to enrich the discussion.  Details of the forum are as follow:

Date: Saturday, 28 February 2004
Time: 2:30pm to 4:30pm
Venue: Causeway Bay Pedestrianization
(Paterson Street, between Great George Street and Yee Wo Street)

Speakers
Mr. Benny TAI (Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, HKU)
The Hon. Albert HO (Vice-chairman, Democratic Party)
Mr. ONG Yew-kim (Chinese legal scholar)
Mr. John CLANCEY (Deputy Chairperson, HKHRM)
